"THiCK CHiCK, duo Tucker Wilde and Hunter Phillips, stormed the stage with more energy than the entire crowd combined. Smiling from ear to ear, these guys are the picture of perfection when describing a successful show. When an artist is enjoying what they do as much, or more than the crowd, that’s a homerun.
Hands down these two are some of Swaager’s most favorite people; originating from Massachusetts, Wilde and Phillips fell in love with Colorado when Wilde came to CU-Boulder. Finding similar interests in music as well as equal but opposite talents in production, these two teamed up to bring auditory orgasms for all that tune in.
Crediting Robotic Pirate Monkey for mentoring and inspiring them, they are proud to say they are following along RPM’s path, having the ability to completely control their set live on stage.
Phillips specializes in drums and vocals while Wilde’s forte focuses on synth lines and technical aspects with their differences melding like perfection on stage. Not kidding you though, these guys are almost polar opposites, providing humor to everyone around. Just like their musical abilities, Wilde is clearly the “technical” one of the two, pulled together and professional. Phillips was clearly given the wrong last name, as “Wild” would be more fitting. Just as his talents with drums and vocals don’t have a clear cut definition, there is no distinct path you’ll find Phillips following. From throwing his shirt off mid-set, to ravaging a turkey leg, uninhabitably dancing with any and everyone, and shouting from every rooftop, transport bus and campsite… Phillips IS the life of the party.
THiCK CHiCK is the embodiment of “opposites attract,” and they do in the most amazing of ways. Their electro dub sound strives to, “build a set like a story.” Looking up to Savoy and acknowledging their path as one they’d like to follow, THiCK CHiCK admires Savoy’s ability to “hit all genres of music in a show.” With dedication and passionate aspirations these two are making themselves a hot act to book. They joined Robotic Pirate Monkey earlier this year on a California tour and have some East coast shows on the bill for Fall 2011. Opening for Skrillex this year was considered a “game changer” for this pair as they had the opportunity to really show their stuff. Commenting that Sonny Moore (Skrillex) was “really good to us and appreciative of our work,” THiCK CHiCK was thrilled to open for such a, “straightforward, awesome guy.”
From “starting 2 years ago in a backyard garage (to having) girls at local bars ask for photos and autographs,” Phillips shares, they have come a long way in a short time. Noting that Pink Elephant Party was one of their “most fun sets to date,” they are looking forward to releasing their EP on August 20th, 2011, then with hopes of 2 more EPs within the year to create a full album. We seriously LOVE these guys and highly suggest you get on the bandwagon! We even told Wilde we want to tour with THiCK CHiCK and write a full feature due to their interpersonal dynamic combined with their serious skill creating jaw-dropping entertainment!"
